Global DevOps and DataOps Report Q2 2026: $100 Billion in Deal Value, 2.1x Prior Year, as IBM, Databricks and Snowflake Go All In

Deal activity hit $99.8 Billion over the last twelve months, more than double the prior year, with a record 197 transactions. The sector spans software and technologies across DevOps and DataOps that enable faster, more automated software delivery, IT operations, and data analytics.

The sector is drawing significant investment, with the combined DevOps and DataOps market expected to reach $85 Billion by 2031, and consolidation is accelerating at scale: IBM's $11 Billion acquisition of Confluent set the benchmark, while Palo Alto Networks and Snowflake both moved into observability with the Chronosphere and Observe deals. Capital is rotating fast too, with private placements surging on mega-rounds at Databricks and Anthropic.

Highlights:

      • $99.8 Billion in DevOps deal value over the last twelve months, up 2.1x year over year, across 197 transactions, up 35%
      • Private placements hit $78.1 Billion, up 3.2x, now 78% of total transaction value versus 51% a year ago
      • Major strategic consolidation: IBM's $11 Billion purchase of Confluent, Palo Alto Networks' $3.35 Billion acquisition of Chronosphere, and Snowflake's buy of Observe
      • Databricks raised $8 Billion in equity and debt across two rounds; a subsequent raise in July 2026 pushed the company's valuation to $188 Billion
      • In total, six placements above $1 Billion closed in the period
